On March 31, 2023, The Homestead hosted its first annual sports tournament with the aim of promoting sports and recreation among vulnerable and at-risk children and youth.
Homestead is all about putting kids first! They're a child-centric organisation that's committed to promoting the best interests of children everywhere. But they're not just playing around! To maximise the impact of their work, they're teaming up with other top-notch organisations in the sector.
And the best part? They're always learning and growing! Homestead knows that successful NGOs need to constantly review and refine their approaches to ensure they're serving their beneficiaries in the best possible way.
The sports tournament provided a platform for children aged 10-14 to flaunt their abilities, mingle with new acquaintances, and feel a sense of belonging in the Homestead community. With four netball teams of 10 players each and six soccer teams of 15 players, the event featured matches in both sports.
The day was a huge success, bringing together beneficiaries from all of their Drop-in Centres (DICs) across Cape Town for a day of friendly competition hosted at the Khayelitsha CYCC.
Seeff Cares, our corporate social initiative group, was one of the proud sponsors.
Team Town Two (Team Seeff) the unstoppable!
It was a fierce battle for the championship title. Fans were on the edge of their seats as the teams fought tooth and nail for victory. But the unstoppable "Team Seeff" Town Two DIC emerged as champions, their blue jerseys serving as a symbol of their unwavering determination. The second-place spot went to the valiant "Team Red Blood" from Site C DIC.
Each team was extraordinary, and the event was truly inspirational.
At Homestead, they've created a culture of openness and transparency where everyone can participate and play a role in making a positive difference in the lives of children. It's all about maximising impact and having fun while doing it!
Their mission is to make the world a better place for kids everywhere! With their focus on collaboration and learning, and their commitment to transparency and participation, there's no telling how far they can go!
We were thrilled to be part of such an incredible and uplifting initiative, and we look forward to what Homestead has in store.
We will keep our ears to the ground for their next big thing that we can be part of.
